Email compliance basics
Practical guidance for running guest outreach in GetPodRev with consent labels, suppression, and required footers. This is operator education, not legal advice.

Important disclaimer
Not legal advice. GetPodRev is software, not a law firm. This guide is practical operator education only. It does not create an attorney-client relationship and does not guarantee compliance with CAN-SPAM, GDPR, CASL, CCPA/CPRA, or any other law. Talk to qualified counsel for your situation.
What this guide covers
B2B podcast guest invites are still emails to real people. Laws and expectations differ by country, industry, and how you obtained the contact. GetPodRev builds guardrails into the product so good habits are the default path — not a PDF you forget after onboarding.
This page maps common themes from CAN-SPAM (US), GDPR (EU/UK-oriented privacy), and CASL (Canada) to how GetPodRev works today. It is not a complete checklist for every jurisdiction.
Consent status in GetPodRev
Every guest has a consent_status used by outreach rules:
- unknown — you do not have clear prior opt-in on file. Cold B2B outreach may still be possible only when product rules and mandatory footers are satisfied; do not pretend the person consented.
- explicit — you believe you have clear permission to contact them for this purpose. Still keep honest footers and honor opt-outs.
- opted_out — do not email. The product hard-blocks sends and treats this as a stop signal.
Suppression list
The workspace suppression list blocks sends to listed addresses regardless of pipeline stage. Use it when someone unsubscribes, bounces hard, complains, or asks not to be contacted.
Removing a suppression entry does not automatically restore a lawful basis to email. Edit guest consent separately only when you have a real reason and documentation.
Operator habits that matter
- Fill data_source honestly when you add a guest (referral, event list, public site, CRM export, etc.).
- Keep your physical mailing address accurate in Settings before the first send.
- Prefer warm paths (referrals, existing customers, event opt-ins) over bulk scraped lists.
- Write clear subjects and identify your show/company — no deceptive headers.
- Honor opt-outs quickly; do not re-add someone to sequences after they unsubscribe.
- If you market into the EU/UK or Canada, get counsel on lawful basis, consent records, and CASL “express vs implied” rules before scaling volume.
What the product does not do
Guardrails are not a certificate of compliance. GetPodRev does not practice law, approve your lists, or certify that a specific campaign is lawful in every country.
You remain responsible for your lists, copy, timing, and local requirements. When in doubt, pause outreach and talk to a lawyer who knows your markets.
